About AFD

Action for Disability has been funding the Asia Pacific Disability Rehabilitation Journal since 1997. The journal was started as a newsletter in 1990 in Bangalore, India, and has become a Journal of international repute. It is brought out twice a year in January and July. It is meant for private circulation for planners, administrators, professionals, donor organisations and implementing agencies in voluntary disability and rehabilitation programmes. The major emphasis of the Journal is on articles related to policy, development, concept clarification, development methodology in areas of service delivery, training of personnel and programme evaluation, and development of technology related to rehabilitation. The Journal has four major sections: original articles, development articles, letters to the editor and information on publications. A supplement is added as and when there is appropriate material.logo1.jpg (12890 bytes)

Two thousand copies of each issue are being mailed free of cost to individuals, organisations and libraries and about half of these are mailed to 72 countries, apart from India. The Journal has an estimated readership of 10,000 all over the world and is now widely quoted by academics, administrators, policy makers and implementers, apart from being indexed in international indexing systems.

A corpus fund has been established to sustain the Journal. Contributions are welcome from individuals and organisations in the developed world and others who can afford to give small amounts towards the Journal’s production.
