SELECTED READINGS IN COMMUNITY BASED REHABILITATION
There has been demand for some considerable time for a comprehensive source
of articles on CBR (community based rehabilitation). AHRTAG (Appropriate Health Resources
and Technologies Action Group) has published a resource list of a large number of articles
which are useful for trainers in CBR. In this list, the largest number of articles quoted
from a single source are from Actionaid Disability News, the previous version of the Asia
Pacific Disability Rehabilitation Journal.
Action for Disability funded the recent publication and mailing costs of a book entitled ‘Selected Readings in Community Based Rehabilitation Series 1 – CBR in Transition’, Series 2 will be available soon. The book are edited by Dr Maya Thomas, Editor of the Asia Pacific Disability Rehabilitation Journal, and Dr M J Thomas, Technical Advisor to the Journal. The books contain sections dealing with different aspects of CBR and related topics and will be an invaluable collection of articles from different authors form many different countries
One thousand copies of series 1 have been printed in India. The books are circulated free of cost to decision makers, training institutions, libraries and programme implementers worldwide. We hope that this initiative will help many people working in this field across the world.
